2011 NBA Playoffs Predictions

2010-2011 NBA Playoffs Breakdown

The weather here in Minnesota is supposed to be pretty lame this weekend. So, the best thing we could think to do; is come up with our favorite sporting event of this weekend. There are a few things going on around here. You could be pumped about the Twins, although I don’t know why you would be. You could be excited that a lot of golf courses are open here now, but, that isn’t really an event and like we said, the weather sucks. So, Ben and I have come up with our picks; let us know what you think.

Kenny’s Pick

The NBA Playoffs:

While I’m not a huge NBA regular season fan, I am an NBA Playoff fan. They start this weekend and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m not going to bring down the whole weekend slate of games, but I will tell you which game I am most excited for and why.

I know a lot of you might think I’m going to pick the Heat, since I’m a Lebron fan, but you would be wrong. I’m going with the Denver Nuggets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder. I love Kevin Durant and Westbrook, and just love the way OKC is running their franchise. They added a nice veteran this year (Kendrick Perkins) to help them for the playoffs, they, which everyone knows, has an awesome young nucleus. As Mr. Duke has said to me many times, “Why can’t the T-Pups just follow the model of OKC?” I couldn’t agree more. The other team - the Denver Nuggets - are a fun team to watch, even if Ty Lawson is probably the best PG the Timberwolves drafted 2 years ago. Ugh. Anyway, I’m not really a huge Nuggets fan, but I like that they made the playoffs. Even after trading Carmelo Anthony. I hope this makes Melo take a step back and say, “Man, maybe I wasn’t bigger than the Nuggets”. I doubt it, but it at least gives him something to think about. The Nuggets don’t really have a chance, but they will put up a fight. It will also be fun to watch two of the best home courts go crazy for their favorite team.

Prediction: OKC in 5.

Ben’s Picks -

Big Ken with some horrible picks. The Final’s pick isn’t bad, but the Lakers out first round?!?!?!? Are you kidding me Ken? Ok let’s take a look at what I can come up with here.

Best First Round Matchup –

By far the first round matchup that is most interesting to me is New York Knicks vs. Boston Celtics. Not only do you have two of the most storied franchises in the league, you have a veteran star studded squad trying to make one more run and a young star studded squad trying to make their first run together. You have two totally different styles of play, Knicks totally offensive and Celtics totally defensive. If history is a guide, the Celtics should win with defense. Also in the NBA the team with the best player usually wins…so in that case the Knicks with Carmelo should win. Should be a dog fight and I am really looking forward to seeing how pumped Madison Square Garden will be when the Celtics come in.

Prediction: Celtics in 7

Indiana Pacers vs. Chicago Bulls – Bulls in 4

Philadelphia 76er’s vs. Miami Heat – Heat in 5

Atlanta Hawks vs. Orlando Magic – Magic in 5

New York Knicks vs. Boston Celtics – Celtics in 7

Memphis Grizzles vs. San Antonio Spurs – Spurs in 7

New Orleans Hornets vs. Los Angeles Lakers – Lakers in 4

Portland Trailblazers vs. Dallas Mavericks – Trailblazers in 6

Denver Nuggets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder – UPSET SPECIAL - Nuggets in 7

NBA Finals Prediction – Lakers over Bulls in 7
