Interview with "Drinking Made Easy" Host and Comedian - Zane Lamprey

As you know, STOB likes to drink. With that, we like drinking shows. Our favorite of all shows has to be “Drinking Made Easy” on HDNET with host Zane Lamprey.

We have been huge fans of Zane’s stand up as well. Make sure to check out his site, for stand up CD’s, t-shirts and Drinking Made Easy seasons on DVD.

Well, earlier this week we got a chance to do a quick email interview with Zane.

Check it out below:

STOB – Thanks for joining us Zane. As you can tell by our sites name, Sports Tears in Our Beers, we like to watch sports and drink. Do you have a sports team that you follow?

Zane – I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that my response may alienate me from fans of other teams…

STOB – Alright, enough about sports; let’s talk drinking. If you could have any drink at this moment, what would it be and why?

Zane – I’m drinking a beer right now—because it’s cold—and I’m thirsty.

STOB – We know you go all over the world for your show, “Drinking Made Easy” on HDNET. Where are you right now?

Zane – On my couch.

STOB – I was anticipating a city, but I’ll ask the question anyway, have you been there before?

Zane – Why, yes, I’m on my couch quite often—whenever I can really. But since I’m on the road so much, I see less of my couch than I’d like.

STOB – Well, we are in Minnesota. I don’t believe you have done a show here yet. What’s up with that man?

Zane – I have not done a TV episode there, but I have done my stand up there. And, I expect that we’ll get there if there’s a third season of HDNet’s Drinking Made Easy.

STOB – Well, how about this, when you are in MN, you shoot us an email and we will show you some good places to drink.

Zane – Deal.

STOB – Besides MN, where do you really want to go that you haven’t been yet and why?

Zane – Paris. Got any hook-ups there?

STOB – What gave you the inspiration to do both “Three Sheets” and “Drinking Made Easy”? It seems like the obvious answer is the free travel and drinks, but there has to be more to it then that right?

Zane – No. It doesn’t get much deeper than that. I love what I do, and it shows. That’s what makes the shows work. If I’m having fun, the audience is having fun. But the drinks don’t hurt… well, at least until the next morning.

STOB – Maybe an even better question is: How can I be Steve? I mean, that guy has the easiest job in the world; he must be a really good drinking buddy.

Zane – He is a good drinking buddy—especially for the show. He can get a little nuts, which makes for good television, but he’s the first one to apologize for it the next day. He’s harmless, though. I’ve known some people that you want to steer clear of when you’re drinking—Steve’s not one of those people. He’s fun.

STOB – Well, we know you are really busy so we don’t want to hold you up much longer. We just have a few more questions. Is the saying “Beer before liquor, never been sicker” true?

Zane – It all goes to the same place… And it’s been a while since I’ve gotten sick on it. Moderation is the key.

STOB – Ok, with the amount that you guys drink on the show, you are probably hanging all the time. Can you give us any secrets or tips on how best to cure a hangover?

Zane – I’m still on my quest for the answer to that age-old dilemma.

STOB – Well, thanks again man for taking time to talk to us, we really appreciate it. Tell everyone where and when they can watch “Drinking Made Easy”.

Zane – On your television!
