Welcome to Kobe Bryant's "Eff You Mode".
This is bad news for every other NBA franchise that had hopes that an aging Kobe was about to fade into the dark corner of the NBA that is reserved for old stars that now are shells of their old selves. Kobe isn't ready to go to that corner with Kevin Garnett (yeah that's right), Vince Carter (Star? He could dunk.), Jason Kidd, Jermaine ONeal (Still in the league? Not sure. That's how dark the corner is.) and others of their ilk. Kobe heard the whispers, that he is an old 33 due to playing deep into the playoffs almost every year and coming straight out of high school. He knows Lebron, Durant and Rose want his throne as the NBA's best player, and he has only one thing to say to them...
Currently leading the league in scoring with 30.3 points per game, Kobe is making it clear that he isn't done owning the NBA. Oh and he is doing this with a right shooting wrist that needs numbing injections before each game and is kept immobilized in a brace when not on the court, knees that get blood platelet therapy and probably a whole list of other bumps and bruises that would sit down less motivated NBA players.
"Hey injuries, eff you!"
Will the Lakers win the title this year? I am not going to rule them out. Sure they aren't deep but they have a dominant, yet fragile as hell, center in Bynum (Perfect example of one of the "less motivated" players mentioned above). They still have Pau. Add those two with Kobe in "eff you" mode and you may just have something. Kobe isn't the same explosive player he used to be, he is a lethal jump shooter that mixes in savvy drives here and there, but as a person that has marveled at Kobe's entire career, I am not doubting him.
If you are doubting him, Kobe has one thing to say:
