What the Hell ACL?!?!

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="628" caption=""Nothing runs like a Deere"...especially a guy with a torn ACL."][/caption]

How many ACLs need to be torn before we take action as a nation?  Over the past year the number one killer of seasons and possibly careers for this nation's greatest sports heroes has been that son of a bitch the ACL.  I, for one, am going to stand up (with the stability in my knees provided by said ligament) to this knee holder togetherer and say I've had enough.  This may call for the government to step in and take action to stop this rogue ligaments act of terror.  Is the ACL a terrorist?  Just ask the New York Yankees and Mariano Rivera.

The biggest problem we have in taking action against the ACL is that we all have two of them, one in each knee....well except for DeJaun Blair.

Yet, something must be done as just recently Adrian Peterson, Ricky Rubio, Iman Shumpert, Derrick Rose and now Mariano Rivera have joined the ranks of, per the US Center of Sports Medicine, 200,000 other Americans each year!  That is a lot of ACL tears!  More people each year in the US fall victim to an ACL tear than die in car crashes (avg. 30-40k p/yr)!  Think about that for a second...ok...that is actually a good thing.  How about this; there are more ACL tears each year than homicides (around 15k p/yr)!  Shocking and scary...well...I suppose that is probably a good thing as well huh?

OK so maybe being that I am a guy with his head in the sports world a bit too much I am taking this "War on ACL tears" a bit too far.  Maybe there is the outside possibility that ACL tears aren't the epidemic that is going to bring impending doom on our country like obviously the bird flu will.  But the fact of the matter is ACL tears ruin seasons in sports all the time (200k times a year across the country to be more precise) and that  ain't cool.

Could the answer be that we should all go out and get knee braces to wear the next time we go play sports?

Nah those look lame.  Watch your step!

  1. [...] Rubio (someone probably willing to go to war against ACLs right about now) is giving away a signed Rubio jersey to a lucky winner. How do you get into this contest you ask? [...]
